Program Outlines

Following a series of overview sessions (for workshop) and keynote speeches (for seminar), we discuss issues in the three key areas as outlined below to reach a common understanding on strategies for contributing to Asia's sustainable growth beyond the global crisis.

“Infrastructure”

On the basis of their shared understanding about the need and priorities for infrastructure development in Indonesia, particularly to attract new investment for sustainable growth, participants are expected to discuss strategies to overcome existing impediments and difficulties as well as to identify the respective roles of Indonesian and Japanese players to achieve common goals. Areas of focus may include power generation, urban transportation, national and region-wide (cross-border) logistics, water management, and the related soft infrastructure.

“The Environment”

On the basis of their shared understanding about the need and priorities for addressing environmental challenges from national and global perspectives, participants are expected to discuss strategies to overcome existing impediments and difficulties as well as to identify the respective roles of Indonesian and Japanese players to achieve common goals. Areas of focus may include renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low carbon infrastructure (or “green infrastructure”) with a view to developing a low carbon society and addressing climate change.

“Finance”

On the basis of shared understanding about the need for securing sources of effective finance for Asia's sustainable growth in the aftermath of the global crisis, participants are expected to discuss strategies to overcome existing impediments and difficulties as well as to identify the respective roles of public and private entities on both the Indonesian and Japanese sides. Areas of focus may include how to promote public-private partnerships for financing infrastructure and environmentally-motivated projects (or “green projects”) and how to mitigate risks inherent in such projects.
