Japan Bank for International Cooperation(JBIC) and Nikkei Digital Media Inc will suspend the weekly release of "Nikkei-JBIC Carbon Quotation Index"on July 31,2012.

The Nikkei-JBIC Carbon Quotation Index has been releasing the trend of bid and ask prices in the trading of carbon credits based on the Kyoto Protocol with the cooperation of major participants in the market. However, in the first commitment period in Kyoto Protocol (2008 - 2012), the amount of carbon credits which have been obtained by Japanese companies seems enough to reach a substantial level and it is decided to suspend the weekly release of the Index.
