JBIC Participates in Sea Transport Seminar between Indonesia and Japan -Technical Cooperation on Maritime Transport, Port and Navigational Safety- in Indonesia

In February 29, 2012, "Sea Transport Seminar between Indonesia and Japan – Technical Cooperation on Maritime Transport, Port and Navigational Safety in Indonesia"was held in Jakarta,Republic of Indonesia.

At the seminar, maritime matters, port and navigation safety sectors were introduced. The aim of the seminar is to deploy Japanese advanced technology systems overseas by packaging individual technologies concerning "Soft Infrastructure"such as system/standard, etc., and activating its total power technologies, as their collaborated approach is thought to be effective.

It's expected to contribute to strengthening cooperated ties with Indonesia in these 3 sectors as well as increasing the opportunity for overseas orders to Japanese institutions.

Mr.Kitamura, Vice-Minister for Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism(MLIT), Mr. Hayashida, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs, Minister's Secretariat, goverment  affiliated organizations and private corporations participated from the Japanese side while Dr. Bambang,Vice-Minister for Ministry of Transportation and affiliated agencies of Ministry of Transportation participated to the seminar.

At the seminar, Japan introduced the navigation safety management and rapid and eco-friendly marine construction technology, etc., in Japan while Indonesia made presentations of their new port development project and INAPORT (port EDI system).

From JBIC, Mr. Homma, a chief representative in Jakarta, made a presentation titled "JBIC's Future Collaboration for Port Sector" in which he exhibited a concept of risk in a port sector after introducing JBIC's financial products and commented on the appropriate way of risk sharing between public and private sectors in Public Private Partnership (PPP). Furthermore, he commented that JBIC is willing to support the Indonesian port sector projects which Japanese companies are involved in.
