JBIC signed a loan agreement with Phoenix Power Company S.A.O.C. in Oman, a joint venture set up by Marubeni Corporation, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., Qatar Electricity &Water Company Q.S.C. and Multitech finance its project of constructing and operating the natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 2,000 MW, in Sur, 150 km southeast of Muscat, the capital of Oman. This project, to be completed in 2014 according to the plan, would be the largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Oman and is expected to meet about one quarter of the national power demand at that time.
