JBIC signed a project finance*1 loan agreement with Gulf JP UT Co., Ltd. (GUT), a Thai subsidiary of Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. for the Utai Natural Gas-Fired Combined Cycle Power Plant Project. Under this project, GUT will build and operate a natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant, and sell the generated electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. This is a significant project for local Japanese subsidiaries as it will provide them with a stable power supply, and in addition to advancing infrastructure development in Thailand, it will also make a broad-ranging contribution to the overseas business operations of Japanese companies.
