On January 8, 2016, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) received a courtesy call from the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
Mr. Hammond expressed his appreciation for JBIC's support for investment by Japanese companies in infrastructure projects in the UK, as well as his expectations for JBIC to continue providing support for future projects, such as in the railway and power sectors.
JBIC Governor, CEO, Hiroshi Watanabe, in turn expressed his wish to contribute to UK infrastructure development, as well as overall economic development, together with Japanese companies by utilizing JBIC's extensive experience, in order to further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
Accordingly, Mr. Hammond and Mr. Watanabe both agreed to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between JBIC and the British government.
