The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) received, on September 5, 2018, a courtesy call from President Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina of African Development Bank (AfDB).
First, President Adesina spoke of his satisfaction regarding the favorable progress with the Nacala railway and port infrastructure project in the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Malawi, for which JBIC is co-financing with AfDB. He also said that he is looking forward to continuing close cooperation with JBIC on the project.
JBIC Deputy Governor Nobumitsu Hayashi stated that Japan plans to hold the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VII) in August 2019, and JBIC will continue contributing to high-quality infrastructure provision as well as continuous economic development in the African region together with Japanese companies.
Accordingly President Adesina and Hayashi agreed to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between AfDB and JBIC, and thus the economic relations between Japan and the African region.
