Guidelines for Measurement, Reporting and Verification of GHG Emission Reductions in JBIC's GREEN (the “J-MRV Guidelines”)
In accordance with the enforcement of the act to revise part of the Japan Finance Corporation Act (the Revised JFC Act) in March 2010, JBIC launched the "Global action for Reconciling Economic growth and ENvironmental preservation (GREEN)" initiative to support projects that aim to prevent global warming.
In providing financing for projects that reduce emissions under GREEN, JBIC requires measurement, reporting and verification of the GHG emission reductions of a project in order to assess its eligibility in accordance with the J-MRV Guidelines (provided that this process is only required for projects that JBIC decided to support before the end of June 2018).
Note that the J-MRV Guidelines apply to those GREEN projects for which JBIC decided to provide support prior to June 30, 2018. For those GREEN projects JBIC decided to support on or after July 1, 2018, some of these guidelines apply, mutatis mutandis, but only when required by JBIC.
JBIC has set up an Advisory Committee consisting of experts from outside the company (See announcement on April 1, 2025).
