Manufacturing and Other Industries

Foreign direct investment by Japanese companies has been improving despite the slowdown caused by the global financial crisis in 2008. The value of export transactions has also been increasing. On the other hand, the international economic environment is constantly changing, influenced by intensifying global competition among companies, the economic trends of emerging countries as well as the economic policies of European countries and the U.S. Those factors also pose further challenges for Japanese companies' business activities in foreign countries.

JBIC will strive to help the Japanese industries to improve their global competitiveness and increase potential growth opportunities, by assisting Japanese companies in making foreign direct investment including M&A and exporting their products and services to overseas markets.

Export loans support Japanese plant, ship and technology exports.

Overseas Investment Loans

JBIC provides overseas investment loans to meet long-term financing needs of Japanese firms for their international business development, including projects that will establish/expand production bases and develop natural resources overseas.

Guarantees

JBIC issues guarantees for loans extended by private financial institutions, public bonds issued by governments and other public entities in developing countries and corporate bonds issued by overseas Japanese subsidiaries and affiliates.
