On February 9, 2022, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) held an online meeting titled "JBIC-IFC Deep Dive" with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to further enhance the cooperation between JBIC and IFC, based on the memorandum of understanding signed in June 2020.
The meeting consisted of several sessions to discuss the potential of the two organizations' cooperation in the key areas of focus and specific approaches for structuring cooperative projects in some regions. It was attended by more than 50 staff members of relevant departments of the two organizations including Deputy Governor HAYASHI from JBIC and Ms. Stephanie von Friedeburg, Senior Vice President of Operations from IFC as top representatives, and the attendees exchanged their views on climate change measures and cooperation in the environmental and infrastructure sectors in developing regions such as Asia and Africa in a lively and open manner. JBIC and IFC agreed to continue to further cooperate in structuring specific projects.

In its Fourth Medium-term Business Plan, JBIC aims to structure projects through multilateral cooperation and coordination with multilateral financial institutions and others. This online meeting will lead to further advancement of JBIC's cooperation with IFC, an international financial institution.
By closely cooperating with international financial institutions including IFC and by promoting initiatives based on the Medium-term Business Plan, JBIC aims to fulfill the role of a navigator that builds a brighter future with Japanese power to continually contribute to the sound development of Japan and the international economy and society.
