On May 19, 2026, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) held a Quad roundtable in Delhi, India. This dialogue brings together senior government officials from Quad countries and leading industry representatives from Japan and India. It aims to gain a better understanding of local needs, strengthen networks among stakeholders, deepen multilateral cooperation under the Quad framework, and promote sustainable economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
During the dialogue, OGAWA Kazunori, Senior Managing Director of JBIC (at the time), delivered the opening remarks. This was followed by guest remarks from Amy Schedlbauer, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in India; Nick McCaffrey, Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to India; and ARIYOSHI Takashi, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in India. In addition, participants exchanged views on the potential for Quad cooperation in strategically important sectors in terms of business and economic security, including semiconductors, critical minerals, and clean energy. The discussion featured leading Japanese and Indian companies that are members of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India (JCCII) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), as well as the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC), an Indian government-affiliated company in which JBIC holds a 26% equity stake.
In his opening remarks, Senior Managing Director OGAWA noted that JBIC has long been committed to strengthening cooperation among the Quad countries. He highlighted JBIC's track record, including the establishment of a USD100 million credit line*1 for the Export-Import Bank of India to support India's COVID-19-related healthcare sector, as well as the creation of the Digital Infrastructure Growth Initiative for India*2, a framework to support India's digital sector, in collaboration with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank of Korea. He further emphasized that cooperation among the Quad countries is indispensable for strengthening supply chain resilience in strategically important sectors, and expressed JBIC's intention to continue serving as a bridge between the public and private sectors in promoting multilateral cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC will actively contribute toward overseas business development by Japanese companies and the improvement of the investment environment, by drawing on strong relationships with the government and government agencies, think tanks, and other entities of the host country.
