Japan Bank for International Cooperation
The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) today made its first disclosure based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).
The TNFD is a global initiative established to develop a framework for nature-related corporate risk management and disclosure. The disclosure framework published by the TNFD in September 2023 recommends disclosures structured around four pillars: governance, strategy, risk and impact management, and metrics and targets. In December 2022, JBIC participated in the TNFD Forum, which supports the discussions of the TNFD.
Under the ESG policy released in October 2021, JBIC declared its intent to proactively contribute to fostering global sustainable development and resolving global challenges, to ensure the realization of sustainable societies. Furthermore, in the Fifth Medium-Term Business Plan, announced in June 2024, JBIC identified “Realize a Sustainable Future” as its first key focus area, and announced that it will promote “implementing responsible sustainability management,” such as upgrading efforts including disclosure of information related to sustainability. The disclosure based on the TNFD is in line with JBIC’s ESG policy and Medium-Term Business Plan.
JBIC will continue to contribute to fostering global sustainable development and resolving global challenges, to ensure the realization of sustainable societies through these initiatives.
