On June 14, 2023, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) provided a lecture on project finance at its head office to participants from governments and state-run petroleum companies of oil- and gas-producing countries in Asia and the Middle East. The lecture was a part of the seminar hosted by Japan Cooperation Center for Petroleum and Sustainable Energy (JCCP).
The lecture was given by staff from the Energy Solutions Finance Department of JBIC. It consisted of guidance on its policy for energy transition initiatives and basic information about project finance, followed by case studies. Participants asked many questions about the process of how JBIC considers making a loan and its future policy toward energy transition.
JBIC has built cooperative ties with governments and national oil companies of oil- and gas-producing countries, mainly in the fields of oil and natural gas. Going forward, in addition to these fields, JBIC aims to develop multilevel collaborations in the field of next-generation energy, such as renewable energy, CCS and CCUS (carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage), and hydrogen and ammonia energy. The lecture was a valuable opportunity of networking and exchange of opinions, which would lead to future development of cooperations.
