  1. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: Tadashi Maeda) signed today a Statement of Mutual Cooperation (the Statement) with the Texas Office of the Governor, the State of Texas of the United States of America (the State of Texas). The objective of the Statement is to promote investment by Japanese companies in diverse fields, including the energy and infrastructure sectors in the State of Texas.

  2. The Statement aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between JBIC and the State of Texas for the purpose of further promoting business development through investments by Japanese companies in a wide range of areas, including energy, mobility, digital connectivity, resilience and the water industry.

The State of Texas is comprised of a large economic zone which has the second largest population and second highest GDP in the U.S., and also boasts the highest population growth in the U.S. A number of Japanese companies have developed their business in the State of Texas and to date, JBIC has provided support for natural resource development projects and other projects carried out by these Japanese companies. Given these circumstances, JBIC aims to establish a cooperative relationship with the State of Texas to encourage business collaboration in a wide range of areas, including in new fields, such as energy efficiency, alternative energy, mobility and resilience.
