The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) signed on August 6 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The objectives of the MOU include promoting cooperation in the sector of information and communications technology (ICT).
This MOU mainly aims to promote Uzbekistan’s ICT projects using technologies of Japanese companies, through exchanging information between JBIC and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan on the country’s plan to develop and modernize its telecommunications infrastructure and on the possible collaboration in finance.
The Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan has been considering an acquisition of facilities to modernize its telecommunications infrastructure with the aim of increasing the capacity for organizing Internet channels, voice, and other telecommunications services. This MOU is expected to facilitate the development of projects using quality technologies of Japanese companies in the ICT sector in Uzbekistan, through the exchange of information between the two parties.
As Japan's policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to work closely with foreign governments and governmental agencies, thereby contributing toward creating business opportunities for Japanese companies as well as maintaining and improving the international competitiveness of Japanese industry.
