The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) signed on August 7 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Development Bank of Kazakhstan Joint Stock Company (DBK) to promote support for structuring environmental preservation projects, taking the opportunity of the “Central Asia plus Japan” business forum held in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan.
DBK, a state-owned development bank, was established in 2001 with the aim of supporting Kazakhstan’s economic development through financing infrastructure and other projects. It also contributes toward promoting investments in the country's efforts such as decarbonization. Under this MOU, JBIC aims to strengthen the partnership with DBK in the environmental preservation sector in the country, helping to structure environmental protection projects in which Japanese companies are involved.
As Japan's policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to support the creation of business opportunities for Japanese companies in Kazakhstan while closely collaborating with such overseas policy-based financial institutions.
