The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) signed on July 10 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) of Indonesia.
This MOU aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between Danantara and JBIC and contribute toward creating business opportunities for Japanese companies and resolving social issues in Indonesia. These objectives will be pursued through the identification of potential projects in areas such as decarbonization, the circular economy, critical minerals, communications and digital infrastructure, and healthcare, as well as through efforts to preserve the environment and achieve carbon neutrality.
Established in February 2025, Danantara is a public institution that controls all state-owned enterprises in Indonesia. It has two main functions, which are the management of state-owned enterprises and the implementation of strategic investments within Indonesia using the dividends from these enterprises. In Indonesia, where many Japanese companies are operating, enhanced cooperation between JBIC and Danantara is expected to serve as a significant milestone in promoting local business opportunities for Japanese enterprises and supporting Indonesia’s economic growth.
As Japan's policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to provide financial support to help Indonesia achieve its national goal of carbon neutrality by 2060 and to support the creation of business opportunities and the promotion of business for Japanese companies, in collaboration with overseas public financial institutions and other organizations.
