JBIC has signed agreements on environmental assessment with private financial institutions for supporting increased private-sector efforts to integrate environmental considerations in their financing operations. Under this agreement, JBIC will provide private financial institutions with knowledge and knowhow on the environmental review it has conducted in the process of appraisal of the projects for which JBIC cofinance with them. This will enable them to identify environmental risk by drawing on JBIC's information and expertise. JBIC is prepared to sign the same agreements with other financial institutions if requested.

Note: In addition to cooperation agreements with the above banks, JBIC also signed a cooperation Agreement on Environmental Review for Export Credits with Nippon Export and Investment Insurance, a trade and investment insurance company wholly owned by the Government of Japan. Under this agreement, JBIC provides NEXI with information and other cooperation for environmental assessment, thereby realizing one-stop shopping and simple and efficient procedures for export credit.
