JBIC Signs MOU with Türk Eximbank in Turkey
Supporting Joint Business between Japan and Turkey in Third Countries

  1. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: Akira Kondoh) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Export Credit Bank of Turkey (Türk Eximbank) in the Republic of Turkey*1 with the aim of supporting businesses in third countries undertaken by Japanese and Turkish companies.
      
  2. Türk Eximbank is a fully state-owned export credit agency which provides loans, insurance and guarantees for exports of goods and services from Turkey. The aim of this MOU is to support Japanese and Turkish companies collaboration, through co-financing by JBIC and Türk Eximbank, which are anticipated to develop businesses in the infrastructure and manufacturing sectors in third countries surrounding Turkey such as Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. It is expected that Japanese companies, which develop quality infrastructure by employing advanced technology and knowledge, will further expand into third countries in collaboration with Turkish companies, with a strong presence particularly in the fields of construction and civil engineering.
      
  3. The Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism held the fourth Turkish-Japanese Overseas Construction Cooperation Conference with the Ministry of Economy of Turkey on March 12, 2018. The objectives of this Conference were to create joint business opportunities between Japanese and Turkish companies in the infrastructure sector in third countries and to provide business matching opportunities for companies in the two nations. JBIC also participated in the Conference and gave a presentation to officials from Japanese and Turkish governments as well companies in both countries regarding the signing of the MOU with Türk Eximbank and JBIC's financing products and services for businesses in third countries.
      
  4. JBIC, in collaboration with Turkish governmental institutions, will support Japanese companies in participating in infrastructure projects in third countries and contribute to further deepening and expanding economic relations between Japan and Turkey.
