The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: MAEDA Tadashi) signed on June 30 a loan agreement amounting to up to GBP25 million (JBIC portion) with Unipres (UK) Limited (UPUK), a UK subsidiary of UNIPRES CORPORATION (UNIPRES). The loan is co-financed with Mizuho Bank, Ltd., bringing the total co-financing amount to GBP50 million.

This loan is intended to partially provide the funds required by UPUK to conduct manufacturing and sales business of pressed parts for car bodies.

UNIPRES manufactures a variety of automotive parts including pressed parts for car bodies for Japanese automakers in the United Kingdom, which is one of the world’s leading production and sales hubs for Japanese automakers, and the company is planning to renovate and expand its manufacturing equipment. The loan will support UNIPRES’ overseas business expansion, thereby contributing toward maintaining and improving the international competitiveness of Japanese industry.

As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to provide financial support to assist Japanese companies in the overseas expansion of their businesses by drawing on its various financial facilities and schemes for structuring projects and by performing its risk-assuming function.
