The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: MAEDA Tadashi) signed on November 12 a loan agreement amounting to up to USD132 million (JBIC portion) with NTT Finance UK Limited (NTTFUK), a British subsidiary of NTT Finance Corporation. The loan is co-financed with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, bringing the total co-financing amount to USD220 million.

The loan is intended to finance, through NTTFUK, part of the funds necessary for group companies of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) to conduct information and communications business overseas.

The NTT group is promoting the enhancement of competitiveness in its global business by leveraging the strength of its capacity for one-stop supply of everything spanning from IT solutions to communications infrastructure. This loan will provide financial support for the overseas business expansion of the NTT group, thereby contributing toward maintaining and improving the international competitiveness of Japanese industry.

As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to provide financial support to assist Japanese companies in the overseas expansion of their businesses by drawing on its various financial facilities and schemes for structuring projects.
