The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) signed today a loan agreement amounting to approximately USD161 million (JBIC portion) with Tokyo Century Corporation (Tokyo Century). The loan is co-financed with private financial institutions*1, bringing the total co-financing amount to USD323 million.
-
The loan is intended to finance part of the funds necessary for Tokyo Century, through its US subsidiary TC Global Investments Americas LLC, to acquire NTT Global Data Centers Joint Venture CH, LLC*2, a U.S. company that conducts a data center business in Illinois under the umbrella of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) Group.
-
In the Medium-Term Management Plan 2027, Tokyo Century established a policy to promote joint business with the NTT Group in growth fields. It also positions the investment in a data center business as one of the key pillars of its growth strategy, as the demand is increasing due to factors such as the expansion of generative AI. The loan will provide Tokyo Century with the funds necessary for the overseas M&A and support the company in enhancing collaboration with the NTT Group in the overseas data center business, thereby contributing toward maintaining and improving the international competitiveness of Japanese industry.
-
As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to support the global business expansion of Japanese companies, including overseas M&A activities, in collaboration with private financial institutions.
