Loan for Acquisition of Dutch Company Euroma Holding B.V. by Subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation
Supporting Overseas M&A of Japanese Company

  • Region: Europe
  • Manufacturing and Services
  • Overseas Investment Loans
January 21, 2025
  1. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC; Governor: HAYASHI Nobumitsu) signed today a loan agreement with MIL Solution Investment LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni). The loan is co-financed with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

  2. This loan is intended to finance part of the funds necessary for Marubeni to acquire additional shares of the Dutch company Euroma Holding B.V. (Euroma).

  3. Euroma is a food manufacturer that produces and sells spices and seasonings for food companies. It develops products with strong appeal in terms of taste, texture, and health benefits through its advanced technology in natural spice processing. Additionally, the company maintains a high level of competitiveness in the industry by automating and streamlining its manufacturing processes. In recent years, the global demand for functional food ingredients, including spices and seasonings, has increased due to changes in dietary culture that are driven by growing health consciousness and the trend toward reducing salt intake. Through this acquisition, Marubeni plans to enter the spices and seasonings market and further strengthen Euroma's capabilities by leveraging its own procurement and sales networks. This loan supports the overseas business deployment of Marubeni, a Japanese company, by providing necessary long-term funds for M&As, and through that, it supports the overseas expansion of existing business, as well as new business deployment, and it contributes toward maintaining and strengthening the international competitiveness of Japanese industries.

  4. As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC will continue to support the overseas business expansion of Japanese companies, including their overseas M&A activities, in collaboration with private financial institutions.
