The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) publishes its integrated report to provide stakeholders with both financial and non-financial information. This report highlights JBIC’s unique strengths as a one-of-a-kind financial institution that connects Japan with the world, and the public and private sectors, as well as its strategies and initiatives for sustainable value creation. The report introduces examples of JBIC’s loan and equity investment activities that contribute to global sustainability by promoting the sustainable development of the international economy and society and addressing global-scale challenges, along with information on the diverse work styles of its directors and employees who form the foundation of JBIC’s operations.

Message from Global Head of Treasury and Systems Group

Since its establishment, JBIC has maintained profitability and has thereby built an autonomous and stable financial foundation. To meet the diverse expectations of stakeholders, JBIC leverages this financial base to supply risk capital that supports private-sector finance and investment. By properly monitoring the constantly changing market environment and combining diverse methods centered on government-guaranteed foreign bond issuance while avoiding market risks, we efficiently and stably raise foreign currency funds, thereby securing a stable financial base that enables the provision of long-term, large-scale financing.

The Value Creation Process

This diagram of the value creation process shows how JBIC uses its business capital to contribute to the world through JBIC’s business model. Outcomes of the Fifth Medium-Term Business Plan are also introduced as examples of the value we provide to our stakeholders.

Mid-Term Business Plan

In June 2024, JBIC formulated its Fifth Medium-Term Business Plan covering FY2024 to FY2026. The plan sets four key focus areas under the theme “Navigate toward and Co-create a Valuable Future.” By leveraging our unique risk-assuming functions through our Special Operations, our expertise in international finance, and mobilizing private funds, JBIC will lead efforts to solve global challenges and co-create the future.

Engagement

Well-Being, DX Utilization, and Initiatives to Create a Highly Engaged Organization

In order to establish an environment where each and every employee can demonstrate their diverse capabilities, JBIC set clearer goals under Key Focus Area IV, “Reinforce and Reform Organizational Base toward Value Creation,” in the Fifth Medium-Term Business Plan formulated in June 2024. Specific examples of various initiatives are introduced along with comments from directors and employees.
